Challenge #1 - Third Place

Challenge #1: Maryland Soccerplex challenge was this past Saturday, May 8th at 7pm and it was VERY windy!

The Challenge was worth a total of 10 points divided into 2 parts.

Part One 40% of the points: The Apprentice style ticket sales for the game. We sold 68 out of 100 tickets and raised a total of $1408. Out of a possible 4 points we got all 4. We took 1st place on part one of the challenge.

Part Two 60% of the points: This part of the challenge was a series of obstacles in the field. We got the stations ahead of time, and selected who would do which station as follows:
  • Station 1: throw the ball in - Valerie
  • Station 2: pass via a kick the ball to the next player - Saundra
  • Station 3: dribble the ball through cones - Molly
  • Station 4: kick ball into a mini goal - Robin
  • Station 5: take another call and try to score against the Freedom's mascot - Chris

I think we all did well, but it was not enough. We took 3rd place in this part which places us in third overall for the challenge, despite winning the ticket sales. I also think there were several factors that contributed to this and the main one was the WIND. It was the worst I have ever experienced, let alone in the middle of a field. We were all frozen solid before we started, but out on the field we became icicles. But the ticket sales raised money for Jeremy's Run which is our next challenge - a 5k walk/run that will take place on May 31st at 8:30am.

I want to thank all of you for supporting the BLUE Team by purchasing tickets and by coming out to support us. Tonight is a weigh-in. I am feeling pretty good about. I will update later about last week's results (remember, we are a week ahead of what is published in the paper!).

We have the power all along...

I had my first appointment last Saturday with Irit Horn. All I can say is WOW. It was truly unbelievable on all levels.

She spent 4.5 hours with me. I had no clue time flew by. I've decided to embark on an incredible spiritual journey with her help to become empowered. What an incredible gift I'm giving myself working with her. I hope you all will embrace what she has to offer with open minds and hearts. She is an amazing spiritual person. Lots of personal homework that I am so looking forward to.

It's incredible when we realize we have the power all along. Like Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ.. she had it all along. I really have it and I really get it.

Remember it's not about "the weight"!

Potomac River Running

On Thursday, April 29th, the Teams went to Potomac River Running in Rockville Town Center to redeem our shoe vouchers.

The awesome people at PRR gave each contestant a $100 shoe voucher, 10% of all merchandise and a free Running 101 class. One of the 4 owners were there: Brendan, along with two Rockville staff members: Chris and Eric. They all were very knowledgeable, friendly and seemed genuinely interested in us and believed that we could win our lives back.

It was an awesome experience and I walked away with a pair of New Balance shoes and socks.
