Challenge #1 - Third Place

Challenge #1: Maryland Soccerplex challenge was this past Saturday, May 8th at 7pm and it was VERY windy!

The Challenge was worth a total of 10 points divided into 2 parts.

Part One 40% of the points: The Apprentice style ticket sales for the game. We sold 68 out of 100 tickets and raised a total of $1408. Out of a possible 4 points we got all 4. We took 1st place on part one of the challenge.

Part Two 60% of the points: This part of the challenge was a series of obstacles in the field. We got the stations ahead of time, and selected who would do which station as follows:
  • Station 1: throw the ball in - Valerie
  • Station 2: pass via a kick the ball to the next player - Saundra
  • Station 3: dribble the ball through cones - Molly
  • Station 4: kick ball into a mini goal - Robin
  • Station 5: take another call and try to score against the Freedom's mascot - Chris

I think we all did well, but it was not enough. We took 3rd place in this part which places us in third overall for the challenge, despite winning the ticket sales. I also think there were several factors that contributed to this and the main one was the WIND. It was the worst I have ever experienced, let alone in the middle of a field. We were all frozen solid before we started, but out on the field we became icicles. But the ticket sales raised money for Jeremy's Run which is our next challenge - a 5k walk/run that will take place on May 31st at 8:30am.

I want to thank all of you for supporting the BLUE Team by purchasing tickets and by coming out to support us. Tonight is a weigh-in. I am feeling pretty good about. I will update later about last week's results (remember, we are a week ahead of what is published in the paper!).

We have the power all along...

I had my first appointment last Saturday with Irit Horn. All I can say is WOW. It was truly unbelievable on all levels.

She spent 4.5 hours with me. I had no clue time flew by. I've decided to embark on an incredible spiritual journey with her help to become empowered. What an incredible gift I'm giving myself working with her. I hope you all will embrace what she has to offer with open minds and hearts. She is an amazing spiritual person. Lots of personal homework that I am so looking forward to.

It's incredible when we realize we have the power all along. Like Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ.. she had it all along. I really have it and I really get it.

Remember it's not about "the weight"!

Potomac River Running

On Thursday, April 29th, the Teams went to Potomac River Running in Rockville Town Center to redeem our shoe vouchers.

The awesome people at PRR gave each contestant a $100 shoe voucher, 10% of all merchandise and a free Running 101 class. One of the 4 owners were there: Brendan, along with two Rockville staff members: Chris and Eric. They all were very knowledgeable, friendly and seemed genuinely interested in us and believed that we could win our lives back.

It was an awesome experience and I walked away with a pair of New Balance shoes and socks.

Sport & Health

We had our team orientation at Sport & Health last night wednesday 4/21/10 with trainer Benny Dorsey. She is amazing, so inspiring she herself has lost 100lbs. and kept it off for over four years now!! Talk about incredible motivation for our team. She was the winning trainer last year when Jen Green won the Healthy Challenge for 2009.

Day 10

The kickoff party this past Thursday 4/15 was fabulous. We can't give away which team won the week's weigh in, but check us out this Thursday in the paper or on the web HERE.

Team Blue was surprised when Isiah Leggett, County Executive for Montgomery County stopped by to cheer us on (pictured here with Cliff Chiet, Vice President of Sales & Publisher, Montgomery, Prince George's, and The Gazette of Politics & Business) and wish us luck!

Our WINNING Team Spirit Chant

At the Healthy Challenge Kick-off on Thursday, April 15th, each team had to come up with a chant. Here is our chant:

We're the BLUE TEAM, yes indeed
Support from you is all we need

Could this work with only one?
Just with me, I'd have no fun

Could this work with only two?
We need more for what we do

Could this work with only three?
Three's a crowd, not company

Could this work with only four?
No way BLUE, we need one more

Lets GO BLUE
We're on a roll
We need five to meet goal

SOUND OFF BLUE TEAM
SOUND OFF RE-DUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way...the Blue Team won the Spirit Award! Thanks to Sandra for the words of the chant and the rest of the team for their spirit. Go Blue!

Day 4

I'm looking forward to seeing all of us in our team shirts, tuesday night 4/13 at the weigh in at 6pm! To answer Sandra, yes I did get on the scale this morning and was shocked my scale must be broken, it showed I lost 10 lbs?? Was I really eating that much chocolate???

I had a fabulous dinner last night, mahi mahi, I bought wild organic all natural frozen fillets from the freezer case in front of the fresh fish case at Whole Foods, 2 fillets per package of about 12ozs. after cooking they shrunk down to 7.5ozs and mahi mahi is one of the leanest allowing us 7ozs cooked! It was delicious. I had to beg my daughter to try those remaining .05ozs. and guess what? she loved it, she asked me to make it again! Also, did you know that in only 4ozs of this fish cooked their are 21gms of protein!! If you haven't tried this fish, try it, it's really fabulous and not fishy!

Also, I printed out the condiment info from the Medifast website and cut the squares apart to make a little booklet that is easy to refer to. If you haven't done this, do it, it helps!

Let's see, I know that some of you might feel this is too much information but today, day 4 I finally went to the bathroom. Very interesting.

Anyone experiencing tingling in your hands? or cramps in your legs? hands have been tingling every now and then and woke up second night with leg cramp. Any other symptoms anybody wants to share?

For those of you that don't know, I'm a quilter,(check it out: http://www.etsy.com/shop/quiltsbyrobin) this truly is my passion! Yesterday was my monthly quilt meeting at Capital Quilts on Gaither Rd. I decided to tell everyone about the Healthy Challenge and they were all so supportive and were cheering me on. We now have about 70 other people who will be following our progress each week.

Although my entire family will come to the soccer challenge, I haven't sold any tickets yet. Has anyone sold tickets yet? If so what's your sales strategy. Hey maybe we should all plan a sales day together, wearing our team shirts and go to a busy location like Bethesda and stand on a corner with signs selling our tickets. Any other ideas? You know this is a challenge and I want to win! Can you tell!! Just remember all the things from the Apprentice Reality TV show. Please let me know your ideas.

Hope you all have a great day.

Robin
